Emmanuel Youth 2016 Adelaide Convention Tee shirts printed by bronzen temple {AKA rhett kilner}

Hand cut stencils are the way this entire Job rolled out.
            The client's brief was 40 white T shirts to be printed with two colours on the front
            {gold and mid blue} This is the stencil with only the mid blue section cut out.

A reverse of the hand cut stencil. I used a 250 gsm paper to cut out all of the three designs.

Ahh the joy of hand cutting letters out!!

On reflection, I did not realise at the time I would be also cutting out the insides of the letters.
A great reason to include this job on my blog for the next time I decide to hand cut letters out. The main reason is that the client run out of time to get the screens exposed and I had no choice but to do everything by hand. Yes challenging but not impossible.

Cutting out the gold Halo section.

The colour swatches given to I could match them by eye.
Back of the tee shirts, Centered.

Mid blue first colour printed on the front, centered.

Gold Halo second colour, registered and printed on front.
The client was very happy with the overall job and also with the fast turn around time. It took me about four days to complete the job and delivered the T shirts in time for the guys to drive down to Adelaide. There is something raw and painterly about hand cut stencils, I do like the imperfect line and I think it adds to the overall drawn feel of the artwork. Im also glad that my hands are still steady enough to use a scalpel for as long as I have had to for this job.
A very good cause  "The Emmanuel Youth" I was happy to be approached to produce the work.

Ants are running all over my studio {again} 2016

Customised Tee shirt 1 of 1 for Calvin.

This extra large white Tee shirt was designed and printed with the brief from the client "do whatever you like mate" {my type of guy} So I started with printing in a running line{on the inside of the white Tee shirt- small black ants, thats why they appear grey from the photo} Next -three fluro pink ants communicating in a triangle formation. This is the back of the Tee shirt!

Front of customised Tee shirt.
 Printing both burnt orange and mid blue ants, an abstract circle print and a light blue rolling cube on the front. All in all a very original piece which I loved making. When worn the subtle of the reverse printed black ants will add another dimension to the original garment. The beauty of originality will be admired by everyone who see's it. Cheers Calvin. Rhett :}

Custom Ants printed for a birthday present.
 I usualy print this configuration of three ants communicating on a black tee shirt with white ants.     This colour pallet was requested to be as bright as possible, still retaining the triangulation and offset  nature on the front of the Tee shirt.

Olive Tee Shirt customised for Christmas Pressy {Back}
 Red and Black ants walking over an abstact circle design printed in aqua on an olive T shirt for my brother.
Custom front.

Multi coloured ants walking over the white cube, centered on the Olive Tee shirt. My brother requested a replacement "Ants+cube" Tee shirt for christmas. This design proved that less is more, using one side for the ants to scurry down, with the central icon being the linea cube. Original and one of a kind, just like Jordan my Bro!!

The latest cool installment for St Clares and St Catherins Public Schools Art {screen printing Tee shirts course. Artist and Designer Rhett Kilner at the Helm. One of the designs the Student produced entitled "Eagle Love"

Printed using black ink by the owner of this custom TEE.

My studio for the day is also a section of the kids art class..

 Decorating with some of Mr Dean's own Tee shirts he has been collecting on black T shirts.

Same process used for all of the 75 students, we had a ton of fun!!
                                         Yes my back was slightly sore at the end of the day!!

The collective.

The three designs selected for the short course were judged by all the students. The winners were:

          1- the small flame with wings{most kids printed this small design on the sleeve}
          2- 2015 - By far the most popular design!!
